Be a registered member of the Democratic Party
Reside in the area you wish to run (be registered to vote in your precinct)
Have 10 other registered Democrats in your precinct sign a petition endorsing you. This gets your name printed on the primary ballot. Primaries currently scheduled for APRIL 26, 2022, unless court fights over redistricting maps causes delays.
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Attend a minimum of 1 meeting every 3 months of your local Democratic Club.
• Assisting with voter registration drives in your neighborhood.
• Circulating nomination petitions for your party’s candidates.
• Giving voters information about an upcoming election so they know where to vote and who is on the ballot.
• Distributing absentee and mail-in ballot applications before an election.
• Getting out the vote. By using lists of registered voters in your precinct, you can help ensure turnout.
• Handing out campaign literature at your polling place.
• Coordinating rides to the polls for voters who are unable to walk or drive themselves.
• Reporting improper behavior or point out weaknesses in the security of the election process to the appropriate authorities.
Contact your local Democratic Club via their Facebook Page to be put in touch with a committee person who can get you a candidate petition from the Board of Elections and list of all the registered Democratic voters in your precinct, as well as a committee person/precinct representative handbook via email.
